There is something special with the word ‘do.’ It features in a number of idiomatic expressions.
Some examples:
- How do you do? A polite, conventional greeting used when people meet each other (usually) for the first time.
- That will do! It is like saying Stop! Enough of it!! (That will do boys. You had been playing for a long time now.)
